Rescue a Life, Gain a Companion

PetScreening supports the Down syndrome community and advocates for the adoption of foster, rescue, and shelter animals. Down for Pets (formerly named PS4Ds) is a philanthropic grant program that gives financial support to individuals with Down syndrome whose quality of life could be made better by adopting an animal. This includes obtaining an animal for the primary purpose of owning a companion animal.

About Our Grant

Grant Details

Our grant package ranges from $750 - $1,000 and is awarded to offer financial support to our grant recipients. The award grant funds can be used for whatever the recipient feels necessary related to their new pet, including but not limited to:

Eligibility
Grant recipient must be one with Down syndrome.
Animal must be adopted from a shelter, rescue or foster program.
*No breeder purchases
The recipient cannot have already adopted the pet.
Requirements to Apply
  • The entire grant must be used within 3 months of grant acceptance.
  • If additional financial support is requested then the grant amount may be increased from $750 to $1,000.
  • Share pictures and stories with the Down for Pets team. We love seeing our grant recipients with their new pet. All pictures and content shared with the Down for Pets team can and will be used on our website.
